Embarcadero opened just over a year ago in our quaint little town of Rancho Santa Margarita and offers the perfect culinary destination for foodies in search of a local spot that offers quality dining in a modern and lively atmosphere. Head chef and owner George Valdovinos has translated his passion for San Francisco and unique culinary vision into a restaurant unlike any other in Orange County.
The décor is reminiscent of the City by the Bay with dark woods, exposed brick and scenic images of famous San Francisco attractions and historical landmarks throughout. There is also a large covered patio with plenty of tables for lounging around cozy fire pits.
The menu at Embarcadero has many options without being overwhelming. From the starters menu the Truffled Tater Tots are decadent goodness with a crispy exterior and soft filling highlighted with truffle oil. The Dungeness Crab Cakes are another sure fire starter with bright and bold flavors from the combination of crab cake atop a refreshing jicama salad and spicy aioli. For salad lovers you can’t go wrong with the Embarcadero House Salad – mixed baby greens are topped with pecans, tart apples and rich gorgonzola, it is a great beginning to any meal.
Now onto the main dishes, from the sandwich offerings their signature dish the Maine Lobster Grilled Cheese offers thick sourdough bread stuffed with an abundance of sharp cheddar cheese and thick chunks of velvety lobster for a rich and satisfying sandwich I haven’t seen anywhere else. They also have a long list of artisanal pizzas featuring classics like pepperoni and Margherita along with a pesto and chicken variety or grilled vegetable version – yum!
If you are craving seafood the options are endless from seared scallops to halibut or salmon there is something for everyone. For meat-lovers the ribeye steak is mouthwateringly delicious served with creamy potatoes and crisp beans. Another pleaser is the braised short ribs, the meat is so tender it falls off the bone and is literally melt-in-your-mouth good.
Whether you visit Embarcadero for lunch, dinner or brunch you will surely delight in the amazing cuisine, lively ambiance and staff hospitality. It is an amazing addition to town and should definitely be on your short list of restaurants to visit. Enjoy!
